It's tough to pick an area within Seoul if you have never been here before. Therefore we are going to suggest some best places to stay in Seoul. We will also provide some tips when finding a place to stay in Seoul.

Stay close to the subway station especially line 1(blue) or 2(green). Every subway lines were made in the sequential order so lots of the old traditional monuments can be travelled via line 1. These two lines are the oldest subway lines in Seoul. Line 1 takes you right in downtown and line 2 which we call it "inner circle" takes you to all the hot spots in Seoul. These two subways lines arrive every 2-3 minutes and it's the most frequently used since it was the first two lines built to cater passengers living in Seoul.

Best place to stay in Seoul if you are visiting for the first time

Nearby MyeongDong on line 4 would be a good place to stay as it's in downtown. Because it's in the center of Seoul, you can conveniently visit major places in Seoul. You can visit the Seoul N Tower, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Insadong and of course MyeongDong for shopping. This is a good location as you can go sightseeing and do your shopping at the same time.

Best place to stay in Seoul if you love shopping and want to stay in trend

Samseong station and Gangnam station is a good location to stay and they are both on line 2. Gangnam offers tons of shopping possibilities. Cheongdam-dong (Cheongdam station) is also known as celebrity street where they offer all the luxury brands like Chanel, Moncler and such.

But shopping in Gangnam does not necessarily mean that it will burden you wallet. You can head to the COEX Mall, a huge underground shopping center that has over 300 brands. They offer low to high end fashion goods. There is even a budget-friendly shopping center near and under Gangnam station where they offers no name brands at an affordable price.

Best place to stay in Seoul if you love night life

I suggest you get a place nearby Hongdae station on line 2 if you love night life. Hongdae’s location near Hongik University makes it a very vibrant and trendy district. Hongik is widely regarded as the best architecture and art school in Korea.

The pubs and clubs in Hongdae are popular hangouts for the students. Because these shops and pubs are catered towards young students, they are priced at affordable rate.

The artsy students from Hongik give this district a vibe different from the other places in Seoul. There’re colorful murals, loads of karaoke bars, thrift stores, and shops selling handmade art pieces.

Best place to stay in Seoul if you love exquisite food like sashimi

Noryangjin station on line 1 or 9 offers a unique experience. If you love fish and sashimi, there's the Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market which offers all kinds of fish at a wholesale price and you try just about any seafood which you can't try anywhere else. Foreigners love it because you can choose the fish and they'll make it right front of you. On the other side of the Fish Market, they have street food catered towards students so you can definitely try that when you get a chance.
